Vivo announces Xplay 3S smartphone -- first phone with 2K display

Chinese manufacturer Vivo today has announced the new Vivo Xplay 3S smartphone. The phone has a 2K resolution (or you can call it 'Quad HD' -- QHD - not to confuse with qHD) 2560x1440 pixel resolution on his 6" display panel; that makes the display has a super-sharp 490ppi pixel density.

Not only the 2K display, the Snapdragon 800 chip is also really fast, and it has four Krait 400 cores with up to 2.3GHz speed and an Adreno 330 GPU.

Other features include the big 3 GB RAM and 32 GB on-board storage, stereo speakers with DTS sound, 13 MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and 1080p video recording, LTE connectivity, a fingerprint reader sensor on the back, and a 3200mAh battery. Oh, and the body is only 4.5mm thin at its thinnest part.

You can pre-order it now for 3498 yuans ($580 off-contract); the phone will be available next month (with possibly a global availability).
